Column drilling machine
Column drilling machines are one of the most widely used machines in the metalworking industry. The main application of these machines is in hole drilling, but they are also used in the fields of boring, reaming, and countersinking. In most metalworking or machine-building workshops, there is at least one column (pedestal-type) drilling machine. These machines are used to make holes in wood, plastic, aluminum, brass, metal, and other common engineering materials.
Most of the problems that occur for the equipment of these machines are due to the carelessness of the users during the operation so that the workpiece is not restrained by the clamp and they try to hold the clamp of the machine with one hand while holding the advancing spindle with the other hand. Another damage that can be done to these machines and cause the drill bit to break is that when the drill starts drilling to come out through the hole created, the feed rate must be reduced. So the proper solution is to let the drill advance slowly by reducing the feed force.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- machine protection is required. It is recommended that at least one magnetic shield be used to protect the machine.
- Secure the workpiece by clamping it to the table or holding it in a vise.
- Clean the machine table of unnecessary clutter.
- Wear safety goggles.
- Dont use gloves when drilling.
- If it is possible, do not have long hair or wear a helmet.
- Do not wear loose clothing (roll up sleeves)
- Reduce the feed force when the drilling tool is breaking.
- Only remove chip parts when the spindle stops moving.
- Never empty long stringy chips by hand.
