CNC Milling Machine
In the field of metalworking industry after lathes, milling machines are the most used. Many simple and complex parts can be manufactured by the machines. Milling machines are structurally divided into three general categories. Vertical Milling Machines, Horizontal Milling Machine, Gantry Milling Machine and in terms of automation are also made in three models: Conventional Milling Machine (ordinary), NC and CNC milling machines.
There is a main difference between a milling machine and a lathe. It should be said in short that in the lathes, the tools do not rotate and have only one movement forward or backward, work pieces rotate, but in the Milling Machines, not only tools move and rotate, but also rotate.
Since milling machines have three axes (X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis), they are more capable of chipping operations than lathes. Some chipping processes like: irregular surfacing, boring and drilling in vertical orientation, can be easily performed by CNC Milling Machines. There are three servo motors to move these three axes and the rotational motions of these motors are converted into linear motion through a ball screw system. It should be noted that we should not assume that milling machines are better than lathes. Each of them is designed and manufactured for a specific purpose.
Accessories and spare parts of CNC Milling Machines
We strongly recommend that you consider two key affairs relating to accessories and spare parts when you want to compare quotations. If the quotations exclude any accessories and spare parts items, request suppliers to mention them separately. Meanwhile ask supplier to determine which ones should be purchased separately. We should note that some of below items are considered as option.
Holders , clamping claw, clamping sets, clamping blocks pneumatic device, stop bars, three-jaw chuck, chopper, 3D-finder measuring Probe, USB wireless keyboard , CNC remote Collet set, vice , suction, Zero point switch – button, tool length sensor.
Brand
Brand is a key factory can’t be ignored when purchasing. Brand, in metal working machines, is associated with quality, assurance and safety. It goes without saying that well-known Brands in CNC milling machines are more expensive than others. If production capacity is high and accurate repeatability is important to you and your budget is OK, we recommend that you select famous and well-known brands in CNC Milling Machines. Factorneed’s experts are preparing well-known brands and 10 worldwide well-known brands would be appeared in the website soon.
Country of Origin
In some countries, like Taiwan, Germany, USA, China and Japan, three are some CNC milling machine manufacturers. The point of country of origin also raises a question why it is important in purchasing process. If you consider affairs like; freight, installation, after sales service, guaranty, maintenance, spare parts and political relationship, you would realize that “country of origin” is another key factor when buying CNC Milling Machines.
Tolerance
We know CNC milling machines are different in accuracy. The differences of tolerance could be appeared in different axes. When buying a CNC Machine you have to pay attention to both output tolerances which is calculated based on average of all axes and each Axis separately. Tolerances of typical CNC milling machines lay around +/- 0.01 mm. If you want to have tighter tolerance, you have to pay more. Experts say “The tighter the tolerance the more money” You sometimes have to look for the CNC milling suppliers in courtiers like: Germany, USA, France, Taiwan and Japan.
Magazine type of tool magazine in CNC milling Machines
Disc tool magazines, chain tool magazines, box types and circular types are considered as typical ones. Chain tool magazines could hold more tools. selecting type of magazine relates to work pieces. In other words; how many operations the CNC milling machines are going to operate.
Spare Parts
when purchasing CNC milling machine, We recommend that you would request supplier to provide you with a list of spare parts including electrical spare parts, pneumatic spare parts and mechanical spare parts like; bearings, gears, feed screws and nuts and rotary tables.
